Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival
We are please to invite you in joining us in a fundraising event for a second year in a row for the Julie Boileau Foundation and the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH). You can understand our particular interest as the founder of the Festival M. Jean Boileau, lost his daughter Julie, in a hot air balloon accident in 2001. And, considering that Julie had peanut allergies, her foundation helps the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation's Department of allergy and Immunology researches. This depatment educates and informs many people and compagnies on allergies and especially teaches thousands of children in Quebec, to live a better life each day.
The Festival is proud to raise money for the Julie Boileau Foundation as the funds will be redistributed to the MCH Foundation. Therefore, the Festival joins forces with CelebsAuctions.com in a celebrity auction throught Internet as it presents different types of fundraisers. CelebsAuctions.com is a secluded window that brings celebrities of different industries to donate items that represent both the artist and his/her will to contribute to children’s needs. We invite you to help us make a difference in a child's life by taking part in this event as the items will be auctioned through CelebsAuctions.com.
Thanks to all of you for being at the most conveyed event of the end of the summer, the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival. This event is Canada’s biggest Air Balloon Festival as it ranks the fifth world’s largest Festival and is the upcoming event in the National Capital Region.
See you at the Festival!

The Julie Boileau Foundation joins forces with the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation in a special fundraising event. Considering that Julie had peanut allergies, her foundation helps the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation's Department of allergy and immunology researches.
The memory of Julie was immortalized in a touching way last year as a plaque was presented to her parents and a white lilac was planted close to the Festival’s entry on Bay Street.
The tree and commemorative plaque are in memory of the contribution of the Boileau family to the Festival. ‘’Supported by his family, Mr. Boileau inherited us a Festival which brings pride to the community and his very well rooted’’ declared the Gatineau Mayor Marc Bureau. “We are very touched by this tribute that honors our daughter Julie, who as the Festival’s first volunteer, just like her brother Alexandre who took part in the event’s evolution and who took part in various tasks of the organizing committee and being a member of the pursuing team of the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon for more than ten years’’ said the father Jean Boileau and his wife Johanne Loiselle. She also stated that ‘’a tree is the most beautiful sign of life that you can have’’!

Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation
The Foundation’s mission is to support the excellent care at the McGill University Health Centre’s Montreal Children’s Hospital. By contributing to the advancement of teaching and research as well as financing the acquisition of cutting-edge medical equipment, we can reach our objective.
The Children's: Founded upon the compassion and devotion of Dr. Forbes, the Children’s Memorial Hospital (known today at the Montreal Children’s Hospital) opened its doors on January 30, 1907 in downtown Montreal. The first pediatric hospital in Quebec, the modest house on Guy Street saw five children in its first week. Too quickly, its ten beds could not keep up with demand. Happily, the Children’s was able to count on the generosity of its neighbor, who lent out his garden during the summer; tents were put up to house another 500 children. The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, established in 1973, administers funds from many generous companies and individuals. These funds enable the purchase of specialized medical and surgical equipment which the Children need, to support research, and to create programs such as the pain treatment clinic and the autism spectrum program.
As in its beginnings, balancing its budget each year remains a challenge for the Montreal Children’s Hospital. You will see infrastructure work being done in and around the Glen, to facilitate access to the site. And, at the end of 2009, construction of the new Hospital will begin. All of these projects, along with the excellent care offered at the Children’s for over 100 years could not have existed without the legendary generosity of donors in the private sector. Thank you for helping us continue this beautiful story of compassion.
